​The heart and soul of leather care comes alive each year at Open Shine. The overwhelming success of the program has led to IMLBB to continue Open Shine in tandem with the International Mr. Bootblack competition. Whether your leather has danced through countless nights or adventured through the day, our skilled bootblacks will be here to rejuvenate and protect your cherished gear.

 

Open Shine Bootblacks will be selected through an application process. Selected Bootblacks may advertise on social media. Each Bootblack is responsible for their own advertising and monies. IMLBB will not handle tips or fees on behalf of any bootblack.

 

Our bootblacks aren’t just here to provide service, they’re here to enjoy the event! Abuse or disrespect of or by anyone will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

 

IMLBB recognizes the importance of holding specific space for exploration by our Bootblacks, and those who might be curious about it, during IML Weekend. In support of our mission, we are proud to show our commitment to the next generation of bootblacks with our bootblack mentorship program.

 

As part of our Open Shine program, this mentorship program will allow new, and even brand-new, bootblacks to learn from more experienced bootblacks through a mix of classes and shadowing in the stand. Applications for the mentorship program are available through the Open Shine application process.
