We are committed to running a responsible and transparent event, setting high ethical standards for ourselves and our attendees, supporting each other, and embracing best practices for success and sustainability.​

 

Key elements for our code of ethics:

  • Integrity: Being truthful and acting with honesty in all situations.

  • Confidentiality: Protecting sensitive information about volunteers and attendees.

  • Professionalism: Maintaining high standards of conduct and competence in one's responsibilities.

  • Fairness: Treating everyone equally and without bias.

  • Respect: Valuing the dignity and worth of others.

  • Compliance with laws and regulations: Adhering to all applicable legal requirements. International Mr. Leather, LLC and IMLBB enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding physical and sexual offenses, which applies to individuals charged with, indicted for, convicted of, or required to register due to such offenses.

 

IMLBB CORE VALUES

We value individuals who actively work to bring a range of perspectives and voices into conversations, creating a sense of belonging for all. We live at the intersectionality of queer, kinky, leather, and sexual explorer.

We demonstrate a depth of understanding about the community, its history, and its evolving needs. We possess the experience to recognize authentic leadership and the potential to inspire meaningful connections. We value actions over words.

 

3. Emotional Intelligence

We value skilled communicators, capable of distinguishing between dialogue, debate, and conflict, and who know when to engage in each constructively. Individuals who demonstrate accountability in their actions and statements. We appreciate strength of character, however, the ability to take direction is critical.

We believe in fostering relationships and creating spaces where our community and our diverse attendees feel welcome. We prioritize the ability to connect, uplift, and mentor others over surface-level attributes.

 

5. Fairness and Integrity

We are committed to impartiality, transparency, and ethical decision-making, ensuring that everyone is given a fair opportunity to shine. We value individuals who act with honesty, fairness, and strong moral principles, even in difficult situations. We value the courage to do what’s right.

 

6. Dedication to Growth

We are learners who continually engage with the leather and fetish communities to stay informed about its shifting dynamics, challenges, and aspirations. We value self-examination, the ability to challenge assumptions and to forge new ways forward.

Respectful behavior:

Treating all individuals, including staff, other volunteers, and beneficiaries, with courtesy and dignity, regardless of background or circumstances.

 

Confidentiality:

Protecting sensitive information about individuals they encounter during their volunteer work. 

 

Non-discrimination:

Avoiding bias or discriminatory actions based on factors like race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. 

 

Professionalism:

Maintaining a positive attitude, adhering to established policies and procedures, and being punctual and reliable. 

 

Accountability:

Taking responsibility for their actions, reporting any concerns or ethical breaches to appropriate authorities. 

 

Honesty and integrity:

Acting with transparency and upholding ethical standards in all interactions. 

 

Conflict of interest disclosure:

Disclosing any potential conflicts of interest that could impact their volunteer role. 

 

Appropriate communication:

Maintaining professional communication channels and avoiding inappropriate language or behavior. 

Why is a volunteer code of ethics important?

 

Protects beneficiaries:

Ensures volunteers prioritize the well-being and safety of those they serve and work with. 

 

Maintains organizational reputation:

Upholds the positive image of the organization by ensuring volunteers behave responsibly. 

 

Promotes positive volunteer experience:

Provides clear expectations for volunteers, leading to a more fulfilling and ethical volunteering experience. 

IML Weekend Code of Conduct

International Mr. Leather (IML) is proud to welcome all leather community members and those who wish to learn more about the leather community, and we acknowledge that we have a responsibility to provide a safe environment.   Additionally, IML welcomes, affirms, and celebrates diversity in all its forms. Every member of the IML Organization is bound by this code of conduct and will respect and honor the dignity of every person who participates in IML Weekend. We require adherence to this code of conduct as a condition of attending IML. This code of conduct applies to all participants – trustees, staff, volunteers, vendors, contestants, judges, contractors, and attendees – of the IML Weekend.   All participants of IML acknowledge that they are attending a sex-positive event that contains some sexually explicit content. All participants of IML must be at least 21 years of age. 

Harassment

IML is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for all, regardless of age, race, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, personal beliefs, fetish interests or religion. Harassment of any kind is considered a serious breach of this code of conduct. The policy applies equally to all participants. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Discrimination or unfair treatment based on age, race, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, personal beliefs, fetish interests, or religion.

  • Non consensual physical contact of any kind

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

  • Deliberate intimidation, threats, stalking, or following

Participants who are asked to stop harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. NO means NO! If you are asked by another individual to leave them alone, then you must respect their wishes. Individuals experiencing harassment or having a conflict with another attendee should cease further interaction and contact the help desk on the 1st floor of the hotel.  

Controlled Substances

IML has a zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal substances. Any person believed to be selling or otherwise distributing any controlled substance will be reported to the appropriate authorities.  

Weapons and Replicas

No functioning or realistic appearing firearm may be carried or displayed at any time, regardless or any government permits you may possess. Projectile devices or props, which may cause annoyance to others, are not allowed.  

Photography & Video Recording

Photography, film, and video recording for personal use is generally allowed. Attendees are asked to be courteous when photographing or filming others and to ask permission prior to recording or taking pictures. If an individual does not wish to be photographed or filmed, their wishes must be respected. Be aware that IML does have official photographers who are identified by unique credentials. By entering an IML venue, you may photographed by them. Wherever possible, IML official photographers will ask permission. However, it is possible that you might inadvertently appear in the background.  

Reporting

If you are subject to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have concerns that this Code of Conduct is not being followed, please contact the help desk on the 1st floor at the hotel or contact us at conduct@imrl.com as soon as possible. All reports will remain confidential. IML does not tolerate any retaliation taken against a person reporting something they believe to be in violation of this Code of Conduct.   Failure to abide by this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the event.
