Ushering

Roles and Responsibilities

These shifts involve taking event tickets and helping people find their assigned seating at the contest event venue. Working these shifts will allow you a unique view of the contest. Those who have theater or event ushering experience should consider signing up. Each usher shift will be considered six-hours, (starting one hour prior to house open through the final intermission), although they may end sooner depending on how long the show runs.

Volunteer Policy

You may sign up for back-to-back shifts as long as they are in the same area and overlap by 30 minutes or less (for example, Market Access from 10:00AM-2:00PM and 1:30PM-5:00PM). A typical shift is scheduled for four hours and therefore does not come with a scheduled meal break. When choosing back-to-back shifts please take this into consideration. All volunteers receive access to the vendor market for the entire weekend. To receive all the benefits provided you will need to register for a minimum of three (3) shifts, or twelve hours. Most volunteer shifts are four (4) hours in length although some are longer. For those super volunteers you can register for up to five (5) shifts maximum. Once signed up, please keep a close eye on your email for shift confirmation, reminders, and other information.
